The College and Career Readiness Coach supports students in exploring, preparing for, and transitioning into postsecondary education and careers. This position blends college readiness, career-connected learning, and direct student instruction to ensure every student graduates with a clear, actionable plan aligned to their Education and Career Action Plan (ECAP). The Coach collaborates with school administrators, teachers, counselors, employers, and postsecondary partners to align academic coursework with career pathways and postsecondary opportunities.
Responsibilities include coordinating dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, and concurrent enrollment programs; organizing college tours and career exposure events; overseeing work-based learning experiences such as internships and externships; and serving as the teacher of record for students enrolled in internships or college coursework. As the point person for business and college partnerships, the Coach connects industry professionals with educators and students to create authentic learning experiences.
The College and Career Readiness Coach works closely with the CTE CAPS program, industry partners, and the Business and Career Development Coordinator to build and sustain robust community and workforce connections that prepare students for college, career, and community.
College and Postsecondary Readiness
- Collaborate with teachers and counselors to guide students in developing and maintaining their Education and Career Action Plan (ECAP) aligned to academic and career goals.
- Support student participation in dual enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), concurrent enrollment, and other college-level coursework.
- Provide direct instructional support to students enrolled in internship and college-level coursework.
- Serve as the teacher of record for students participating in work-based learning or postsecondary classes, ensuring accurate grading, documentation, and compliance with district and state requirements.
- Organize and lead college tours, campus visits, and postsecondary exploration events.
- Assist students with college applications, FAFSA completion, and scholarship submissions.
- Collaborate with counselors to ensure all students meet college and career readiness benchmarks.
- Support students in accessing industry credentials, concurrent coursework, and dual credit opportunities.
- Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and maintain communication with instructors, counselors, and partners to ensure student success.
- Deliver lessons and support activities that reinforce employability skills, professional communication, and academic rigor in college and career contexts.
Career Development and Work-Based Learning
- Coordinate internships, job shadows, and externships that connect classroom learning to real-world experiences.
- Serve as the primary liaison between schools, business partners, and higher education institutions.
- Partner with the CAPS Coordinator, Business and Career Development Coordinator, and industry representatives to expand experiential learning and employer engagement.
- Facilitate career fairs, industry panels, guest speaker events, and business-education round tables.
- Prepare students for workplace success through resume development, interview preparation, and professional etiquette training.
- Identify and match students with work-based learning placements aligned to their interests and career pathways.
Collaboration and Program Support
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to integrate college and career readiness throughout curriculum and programming.
- Support educators in embedding real-world application, problem-solving, and 21st-century skills into classroom instruction.
- Coordinate with local colleges, universities, and industry partners to strengthen program alignment and student opportunity pipelines.
- Assist in the planning and execution of CAPS-related projects in coordination with teachers, industry mentors, and business partners.
