Base Hourly

$19.64

Performance Pay

Available annually.

New Hire Experience

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum.

New Hire Education

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position.

Job Summary

To support the safety, well‑being, and success of students by assisting with behavior management and de‑escalation strategies; to resolve behavior concerns and determine appropriate response; to observe and document student behavior; and to collaborate with staff to maintain a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in non‑crisis or physical intervention or restraint during de‑escalation of students.
  • Monitor, observe and document behavior of students in seclusion or reset rooms.
  • Assist students with severe medical conditions or physical limitations to ensure functioning in the school environment.
  • Transfer and/or lift students to assist them in daily activities.
  • Identify violations of school rules or state laws and report to appropriate authorities.
  • Assist with student supervision and transitions throughout the school day and in various settings.
  • Assist bus driver with bus security and discipline problems; ride school bus as needed.
  • Serve as witness in a disciplinary due process hearing or court case as required.
  • Participate in meetings to share information and observations, collaborate with team members, and improve strategies, skills, and knowledge for student support.
  • Submit oral and written reports to school/district as required.
  • Work over contractual hours when needed and maintain regular, on‑time attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work with students.
  • Previous work in security.

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public; strong verbal and written skills.

Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Work primarily on‑site at elementary, middle, or high schools.
  • Constant movement between locations.
  • Respond quickly to incidents, emergencies, or behavioral issues.
  • May encounter confrontations, disciplinary issues, or safety threats.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
  • Patrol large campuses or respond to incidents quickly.
  • Occasionally lift or restrain students (if trained and necessary).
  • May need to lift up to 120 lbs.
