ASDOH - Predoctoral Clinic Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time

A. T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is seeking a full-time non-exempt Predoctoral Clinic Coordinator on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Predoctoral Clinic Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations and educational function of the dental school's predoctoral clinics within the Comprehensive Care Units (CCUs) by coordinating digital workflows, assisting with chairside digital support needs, and supporting CCU digital dentistry equipment processes.

This role requires a unique combination of strong dental assisting knowledge and hands-on digital dentistry experience (e.g., intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM workflows, 3D printing, case file management).

Responsibilities
  • Digital Dentistry Support in CCUs
    • Provide hands-on support and training on digital workflows for predoctoral students.
    • Assist students and faculty with the fabrication of CCU digital lab cases.
    • Coordinate with the Digital Dental Lab team regarding case prioritization, timing expectations, and delivery.
    • Support the fabrication workflow including:
      Model printing setup and post-processing, splints/guide printing workflow, milling/printing material preparation, basic finishing/polishing of printed/milled items.
    • Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and delivery of digital lab cases to CCUs.
    • Support and backup digital lab technician in clinic digital lab.
  • Documentation and Case Tracking
    • Support clinic documentation standards by helping ensure students follow required digital/clinical case steps.
    • Maintain logs for: digital case submissions and returns, case troubleshooting and resolutions, lab turnaround tracking and deadlines, and document quality control tracking for CCU digital lab cases.
    • Coordinate lab cases for pickup and delivery to CCUs.
    • Assist with clinic compliance reporting initiatives as assigned (quality improvement, lab cases, workflow metrics).
    • Serve as point-of-contact for day-to-day digital equipment issues impacting student care delivery in CCUs.
  • Digital Equipment Support
    • Monitor clinic consumables and digital supplies (scan tips, sleeves, resins, blocks, burs, etc.).
    • Submit supply requests, receive deliveries, and ensure organized storage in accordance with clinic protocols.
    • Perform basic operational checks of digital equipment (scanner readiness, printer maintenance schedules, routine calibration checks).
    • Maintain, calibrate, and prepare CCU digital lab equipment. Coordinate service needs with vendors and/or institutional support teams as needed.
  • Clinical Support (Dental Assisting at JDC)
    • Support offsite clinic dental assisting needs 2-3 days per week, as scheduled, at Juvenile Detention Center (JDC).
    • Provide chairside assisting support to ensure continuity of patient care in the JDC environment.
    • Prepare operatories and ensure proper setup per procedure type and faculty requirements.
    • Reinforce appropriate clinical assisting standards, ergonomics, and proper instrument handling.
    • Support students with procedural logistics, infection control expectations, and clinical professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of a dental assisting program and/or 2+ years of dental assisting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting digital dentistry workflows (intraoral scanners, digital impressions, digital files).
  • Knowledge of infection control requirements (CDC/OSHA).
  • Knowledge of protected information laws (HIPAA/FERPA).
  • Strong computer skills (file management, systems navigation, technology troubleshooting).
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, student-centered teaching clinic environment.
