The post holder will be responsible for managing a General Surgical, Trauma and Orthopaedic ward, providing support and assurance to the senior nursing team and safely managing, supporting and guiding a team of Registered Nurses and Health Care Support Workers to ensure that the care they provide to our patients adheres to the safe standards outlined by clinical governance and the exceptional standards that Prince Charles Hospital promotes.
Responsible for the delegation of clinical nursing activities to appropriately skilled team members, ensuring that an efficient and effective service is delivered to the patients.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; while the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

The Health Board currently operates a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5‑hour shift, inclusive of either one 30‑minute or two 30‑minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.

- Leadership and experience
- Managerial Experience
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role.
