Job Description & How to Apply Below

Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Bid Writer who wants their work to matter. Not another corporate rebrand. Not another internal process document. Work that keeps youth services running, advice centres open, and community organisations funded.

Monarch Market & Bid Development is a specialist consultancy working exclusively with charities, social enterprises, and VCSE organisations. Our team has helped clients secure over £30 million in funding in the last 18 months, with an 80%+ bid success rate. We do this by combining senior bid expertise with genuine partnership — embedding with our clients, understanding their mission, and writing bids that win.

We need someone senior who can hit the ground running.

The role

6-month contract, 40 hours per week, fully remote (UK standard working hours required). You’ll lead complex public sector and VCSE bids from qualification through to submission — managing the full process, shaping win strategy, and producing high-scoring, evaluator-focused responses.

You’ll work autonomously. Our Head of Client Services oversees delivery, but we need someone who takes ownership of their bids, manages stakeholders confidently, and delivers quality work without needing to be managed through it.

AI and bid technology capability is essential

This is non-negotiable. We work with Visible Thread as our core platform and expect senior writers to be confident and experienced in using AI and specialist bid tools across research, drafting, structuring, compliance checking, and content optimisation. If you’re still writing bids the way you did five years ago, this isn’t the right fit. If you’ve embraced the new way of working and can balance technology with commercial judgement and persuasive writing, we want to hear from you.

What

we offer

We work in the charity sector, and our rates reflect that. The contract is circa £40,000–£50,000 per annum pro rata equivalent, depending on experience.

What we offer in return is purpose, autonomy, and variety. You’ll work across multiple clients doing work that has genuine social impact. You’ll be trusted to deliver at a senior level. And you’ll be part of a small, high-performing team that takes its work seriously and treats each other well.

What you’ll need
  • Significant senior-level bid writing and management experience
  • Strong track record in public sector and/or VCSE tendering
  • Experience leading complex, multi-workstream submissions
  • Confident, experienced use of AI tools and specialist bid platforms
  • Advanced writing, editing, and document structuring capability
  • Strong stakeholder coordination and deadline management
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight
  • APMP accreditation (or working towards) is desirable.
