Location:
Merritt Island, FL. Onsite contract position.
- Configure new production work areas with required tooling and equipment to support efficient manufacturing workflows.
- Operate precision-calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers to maintain safety and quality standards.
- Perform precision drilling to tight tolerances and install structural fasteners.
- Apply and work with materials including adhesives, sealants, thermal blankets, composites, and coatings.
- Prepare and test payload systems and hardware, including painting, sealing, composite layup, repairs, and testing.
- Assist with vehicle assembly, integration, and installation activities.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance safety and productivity.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with 5S principles.
The Structures team plays a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and quality of large aerospace structures through advanced drilling and assembly techniques. You will specialize in large-scale structural assembly using manual and power-feed drills, working with both metallic and composite materials. Responsibilities include drilling, deburring, surface preparation, fixturing, alignment, and assembly of large components, while ensuring fabrication methods and specifications are met to support high-quality aerospace construction.
Minimum Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, structures, or related fields.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and drills.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience using precision measurement and calibration tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, and optical measuring instruments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights (ladders, lifts, work stands) and/or in confined spaces.
- Experience with adhesives, sealants, and thermal blankets.
- Proficiency with digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
- Experience with precision assembly and handling of large aerospace components.
- Strong technical and leadership skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset focused on safety, quality, and innovation.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
- Onsite aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Requires standing, climbing, lifting, and working with power tools and heavy components.
- Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards is mandatory.
