Overview

Title: Technician Structures III (Aerospace)

Location: Merritt Island, FL

Duration: 6 months potential to convert (No Commitment)

Pay Range: $40-$46/hr on W2

Shifts and Rates: A Shift - Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 PM - $40/hr on W2; B Shift - Monday - Thursday 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM - $44/hr on W2; C Shift - Friday - Sunday 5:00 am to 5:30 pm - $44/hr on W2; D Shift - Friday - Sunday 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm - $46/hr on W2

Client: The client is a private aerospace manufacturer and spaceflight services company, which aims to make access to space more affordable and reliable through the development of reusable rocket technology. It has several ambitious projects in progress, including its New Shepard suborbital rocket and the New Glenn orbital launch vehicle.

Job Description

The client has also been involved in developing lunar landers and other technologies to support NASA's Artemis program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure new production work areas with the necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays during the transition to high-rate manufacturing.
  • Operate precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.
  • Drilling precision holes to tight tolerance.
  • Installing structural fasteners.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and test payload systems and hardware by applying materials, conducting painting, sealing, composite layup, repairs, testing, and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation.
  • Work with the structures team on precise drilling and assembly using manual and power feed drills for large-scale structural assembly.
  • Work with metallic and composite materials, performing drilling, deburring, and assembling large components, including surface preparation, fixturing, and alignment of structural parts to meet specifications.
  • Maintain fabrication methods and specification requirements to ensure high-quality construction.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, structures or related field.
  • Familiarity with basic use of hand tools and drills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Experience with precision calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Expertise in adhesives, sealants, and thermal blankets.
  • Proficiency with digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.
  • Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components.
  • Strong technical and leadership skills with attention to detail for complex integration tasks.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
