This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Job Summary

As an Assembly & Integration Technician at Blue Origin, you will provide hands‑on technical support to engineering, production, and manufacturing teams by performing activities such as assembly, integration, testing, modification, and checkout of aerospace systems and hardware. Working from engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions, you will build, integrate, and troubleshoot prototype and production electro‑mechanical systems, avionics, and specialized test equipment.

You will perform operational tests, fault isolation, and assist in remedying malfunctions, ensuring all systems meet rigorous quality and safety standards. This role requires proficiency using a wide range of manufacturing and diagnostic tools, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to supporting Blue Origin’s mission of safe and reliable spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and integrate subcomponents and final assemblies of all major structural, mechanical, fluid, and avionics systems according to engineering specifications.
  • Configure production work areas with necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays during high‑rate manufacturing transitions.
  • Operate precision calibrated tools (e.g., torque wrenches, micrometers) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Perform operational tests, troubleshooting, and fault isolation to ensure the integrity and reliability of assembled systems.
  • Support the transition from development to production, performing preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
Team Focus & Domain Expertise

The Technician – Assembly & Integration at Blue Origin plays a pivotal role in assembling, integrating, and verifying aerospace components and systems including primary structure, mechanical assemblies, fluid propulsion systems, and avionics for New Glenn’s first stage. You will collaborate on transforming how our tanks and hardware are made and integrated, directly impacting the reliability and performance of launch vehicle systems.

Success requires versatility across domains, keen attention to detail, and dedication to safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience Levels with aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another related field. (0‑3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician, 8+ Sr Level Technician)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Hands‑on experience with assembly and integration of structural, mechanical, fluid, and avionic systems.
  • Proficient with precision calibration tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Experience with adhesives, sealants, and fasteners.
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
