This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It supports Manufacturing and Supply Chain across all Blue Origin facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the industrialization of new products, e.g., solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) to build reliable vehicles for space exploration.
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
- Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non‑conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
- Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.
- Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures, etc.) and deepen that knowledge.
As a Launch Ops Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll help drive the rate and reliability of New Glenn’s critical launch infrastructure – including our massive Transporter/Erector, LC‑36 Launch Pad, Mobile Test Stand, and specialized test facilities. You will bring technical depth in areas such as cryogenics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems and large structures, electronics and transducers, PLCs, and/or software. Safety excellence is our foundation;
you’ll apply safety‑by‑design thinking to complex, high‑energy systems while pushing reliability higher and operations faster.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field) from an accredited university.
- 0–3 years manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering experience (Level I Engineer) or 3+ years (Level II) or 5+ years (Level III) or 8+ years (Senior).
- 1+ year of experience creating English work instructions.
- Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed; open to extended hours if required.
- Experience in high‑rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive.
- Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing, including GD&T.
- Experience working with Bill‑of‑Materials and BOM reconciliation.
- Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles.
- Experience with AS9100 quality standards.
Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
