Manufacturing Engineer Manager – Space Hardware - 2nd Shift, Amazon Leo
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide.

Position Overview: The Manufacturing Engineer Manager will lead second‑shift assembly, integration and test flows for space hardware builds. They will manage engineering and manufacturing teams to integrate Amazon Leo satellites with dispenser and launch vehicle hardware.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and optimize workstation layouts for Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT), to intended throughput capacities.
- Material flow planning and manufacturing process definition – spacecraft and dispenser level, assembly & test.
- Implement and continuously improve assembly, integration and test processes.
- Specify and procure assembly equipment and systems to meet program development requirements.
- Interface with facilities personnel in site usage and integration flow.
- Plan AIT takt time & cost optimization.
- Define & implement Work Order and automated documentation processes.
- Payload compliance certification sign‑off.
- Resolve anomalies and implement corrective action.
- Assist in hiring personnel (engineers and technicians).
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager will spend significant time collaborating with engineering, quality and manufacturing to test satellites, dispensers and oversee hardware integration. They will address root cause failures and implement production control and optimization strategies, leading the space hardware product value stream.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, material science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of technical leadership in facilities and operations setup.
- 5+ years of experience with developing space mechanical assemblies (or 7+ years with space hardware build and development, or 10+ years in design and manufacturing of complex assemblies).
- 3+ years experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Experience with project management of technical projects.
- 5+ years experience in space deployment mechanisms.
- Experienced with automated manufacturing processes at component, subsystem, and system levels.
- Experience with handling and tracking systems for continuous material flow to manufacturing lines.
- Highly familiar with QTP/ATP and production test methods, and automated data acquisition and collection.
- Formal training/certification in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.) a plus.
- Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.

CompensationThe base pay for this position ranges from $135,900/year in our lowest geographic market to $234,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on location and may vary. Additional equity, sign‑on payments and other benefits may be part of the total compensation package. This position will remain posted until filled.
