Overview

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Systems/Human Factors Engineer opportunity at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL.

This position is for a Systems/Human Factors Engineer to support the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) project, which designs and constructs a launch platform for NASA. ML2 provides a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS) and interfaces with KSC ground systems. The successful candidate will interface with other engineering disciplines and the client to develop the design, and must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and a willingness to innovate designs.

The Engineer will understand basic systems engineering work processes and modeling tools, perform systems engineering tasks of medium complexity, review engineering documentation, and integrate Human Factors requirements into engineering products.

Responsibilities
  • Establish means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare system and facility design criteria documents.
  • Document and process Human Factors findings.
  • Perform walkdowns of hardware to verify human factors requirements are properly implemented.
  • Review design products for implementation of Human Factors Principles.
  • Assess hardware against established Human Factors requirements.
  • Support system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow down and traceability.
  • Perform impact analyses for proposed requirement changes.
  • Perform assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design.
  • Participate in technical discussions to resolve system design issues.
  • Research and document system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and discussions with system designers.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Foster an open, trust-based, collaborative work environment that emphasizes teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or another engineering field from an accredited university, with at least 9 years of relevant technical experience; or 15+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Engineer-In-Training (EIT) within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position.
  • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to systems engineering and human factors.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Aware of national codes and standards, environmental regulations, and their influence on design.
  • Experience facilitating multi-discipline meetings to resolve technical and requirements compliance issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Construction site familiarity.
  • Familiarity with implementation of requirements in design.
  • Experience performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis.
  • Experience with MIL STD 1472G DOD Design Criteria Standard – Human Engineering.
  • Experience with HF-STD-001 FAA Human Factors Design Standard.
