Overview

We’re developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, as well as Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, you will develop strategic procurement solutions and complete day-to-day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will contribute to all aspects of supply chain operations and help drive organizational and policy changes to enhance Blue Origin’s bottom line.

The Buyer II will ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet the needs of Blue Origin. They will be competent in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives. They have excellent oral and written skills, and solid communication skills. They have experience preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis in support of proposals, and developing negotiation strategies and leading formal negotiations.

The Buyer II constructs various contract types for major procurement activities to meet program requirements and business needs, including long-range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and opportunities for enhanced efficiencies. They own the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices and are accountable to resolve issues within this process. They lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (e.g., Long-Term Agreements) where mutually beneficial.

They support the procurement organization’s strategic direction to achieve corporate objectives, including on-time delivery of production materials, staying within budget, and meeting technical performance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related industry experience.
  • Interprets and applies company policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards and U.S. government regulations (e.g., FAR, DFAR, SOX Compliance).
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department.
  • Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records.
  • Strong analytical skills, data-driven with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics.
  • Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Must have top-notch people and communication skills.
  • Working understanding of AS9100 standards.
  • Knowledge of engineering data such as specifications and source control drawings.
  • A eagerness to identify opportunities, find solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results critically and expediently.
  • Highly analytical and critical thinker.
  • Maintains passion for solving problems from end-to-end.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload.
  • Track record of working in an ambiguous environment and ability to define processes that can scale.
  • Adept at working with different systems and making recommendations on improvements for both systems and processes.

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Current active DOD Secret Security Clearance and/or Special Access
  • Experience in Machined Parts, Raw Material and Outplant Services buying
