Job DescriptionAs a member of the Facility Maintenance Mechanic team, you will support the MER campus with a broad range of tasks including carpentry, sheetrock repairs, flooring installation and maintenance, suspended ceiling installations, door and lock installations, light moving and rigging, and other duties as required. You will work collaboratively in a team environment, using strong communication skills to coordinate with local project management, plant engineering, contractors, and vendors.
Responsibilities- Perform carpentry work, including sheetrock installation and repair, floor tile repairs, and painting.
- Install, repair, and maintain doors, hardware, locks, and windows.
- Move, erect, and dismantle various light, medium, and heavy equipment using staging, hoists, rigging, and special tools, ensuring compliance with safety codes.
- Operate forklifts and hand trucks to move supplies and recycling bins.
- Coordinate and execute personnel moves, space planning, and daily move/add/change tasks.
- Operate within a computerized Maintenance Work Order system to log work performed and summarize replacements or repairs.
- Maintain inventory control for used furniture and urgently needed materials; retrieve stock as required.
- Engage with outside contractors and vendors, providing a customer‑service oriented demeanor.
- Participate in sustainability and energy‑management initiatives and on‑call rotational rosters for off‑hour emergencies, including snow removal and emergency response.
- Clean and service equipment containing hazardous substances and manage hazardous waste per federal, state, and local regulations.
- High School diploma or GED with at least two (2) years of general maintenance experience.
- Honorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces or current drilling member of a Reserve/Guard component with a service‑connected injury.
- Must be able to obtain Secret clearance and be a U.S. person/citizen.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, equipment drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
- Competence in operating a computerized Maintenance Work Order system and producing brief reports of work performed.
- Proficient in operating forklift or hand trucks and in handling heavy equipment rigging.
- Strong customer‑service skills and the ability to work independently or lead a group of workers on assignments, renovations, or repairs.
- Experience with overseas operational deployment and specialized or professional development schooling is preferred.
