Veterinary Extern - General Practice at NVA General Practice
OverviewAn externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all externships share a commitment to excellent medicine, supportive environments, and providing exceptional service to animals and their people.
At Merrimack Veterinary Hospital we are a busy, progressive practice with a strong focus on dentistry and dental referrals from local hospitals. Externs will rotate through sick and wellness appointments and assist with surgery. They should be able to develop a basic proficiency with dental radiography while working with us.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Details on the stipend program are available internally.
