Principal Systems Analyst

Piper Companies is seeking a Principal Systems Analyst to support a leading financial services organization in a long-term contract role based near Smithfield, RI or Merrimack, NH
. The Principal Systems Analyst will bridge business and technology across multiple business units, leveraging strong Jira, SQL, and API integration skills to drive high-impact solutions.

• Partner with stakeholders across multiple business units to gather, analyze, and document complex business and system requirements.
• Use Jira (and related tooling) to manage backlogs, user stories, workflows, and cross-team dependencies in an Agile environment.
• Analyze data using SQL, build queries, and support data validation and troubleshooting across integrated systems.
• Collaborate with development teams to design, consume, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert and liaison between business, engineering, QA/SDET, and Dev Ops teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.

• 6–10 years of experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role supporting complex enterprise applications.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Jira for requirements management, ticketing, workflows, and Agile delivery coordination.
• Proficiency in SQL for data analysis, reporting, and supporting troubleshooting activities.
• Background in or strong understanding of software development concepts, APIs, and integration patterns; prior development experience is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills; experience operating across multiple business units and within financial services is a plus.

• Salary: $155,000-$170,000/year (USD)
• Opportunity for long‑term engagement with a 17‑month contract duration
