Overview

The Role:

As a Principal System Analyst in Quantitative Research and Investments Technology, you blend investment management and technical expertise with a passion for delivering results. You are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the team mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with Fidelity leaders to influence broader strategic decisions, roadmaps, and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute on specific product features.

You will ensure alignment on the what and when work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable team members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation, learn from failures, and celebrate success. You are committed to developing your own expertise to bring the latest thinking to your role.

Responsibilities

  • Defining, refining, and communicating the team’s mission and roadmap to empower and secure team and partner support and alignment.
  • Anticipating and prioritizing client/partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team.
  • Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria.
  • Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments.
  • Measuring performance against established objectives that deliver on business, technology, and people results.
  • Collaborating with Technical Leads and Scrum Masters to establish team capacity and capability and enable team member growth, development, and learning.
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to balance quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Scaling ideas that further business objectives and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Computer Science, MIS, Business Information Systems, Mathematics, or Finance; CFA/CFP designation or related post-graduate degree a plus.
  • 6+ years of proven experience in end-to-end technology solution delivery.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic products and solutions.
  • Financial services experience preferred.
  • Jira and Jira Align experience preferred.
  • Experience in Asset Management industry is preferred.
  • Data-focused approach to understanding customer needs and translating strategic objectives into action.
  • Ability to translate sophisticated product features into clear stories with business value and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of the Quant research space and creative solutioning for quantitative investing platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and motivate colleagues without formal authority, building high-performing teams.
  • Commitment to agile practices and continuous learning.
  • Ability to collaborate across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and leverage colleagues for guidance.
  • Intellectually curious, mentoring, and coaching mindset.
  • Balance of technology and non-technology skills to address customer needs.
  • Experience with minimum viable product definitions and product backlog management.
  • Adept at detecting scope changes and raising issues.
