Job SummaryAt HiARC, Systems Engineers lead small to mid‑sized, cross‑functional program teams, delivering technical content, performance, intellectual property, and quality deliverables for new product development. They drive architecture, vision, and design requirements, balancing implementation complexity, risk, manufacturability, serviceability, and quality. The Systems Engineer translates user needs into system requirements, ensures quality targets are met, and retires technical risks as they arise. The role maintains close interaction with customers to enhance product quality and deliver satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Lead effort to create system‑level concepts for new project proposals; review and critique concepts created by others.
- Prepare Systems Engineering cost and schedule estimates for major design development efforts; provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing for proposals and during development.
- Plan and lead experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes; translate experimental results into design criteria.
- Support System Integration, Verification and Validation by defining, specifying, and supervising testing, analysis, and integration activities; ensure reports document the outcomes.
- Support the design review and phase‑gate process to ensure engineering deliverables meet FDA/ISO requirements and standards.
- Oversee development of requirements for multiple disciplines, including Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and Electro‑optics.
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Five or more years of complex electro‑mechanical instrument systems engineering experience, including integration of hardware and software.
- Preferred, but not required:
- Master's degree in engineering.
- Medical device experience in a regulated design environment (FDA or equivalent).
- Extensive development experience in at least one of: software, mechanical, electrical, optics, or fluidics, with knowledge of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes.
- Ability to provide technical leadership during investigation of complex medical instrumentation products.
- Most locations offer a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.
