Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join our Merrillville, IN office. This role is ideal for a driven accounting professional with 6-10 years of public accounting tax experience who is ready to take ownership of complex tax and accounting engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to a diverse client portfolio. This position plays a critical role in managing tax compliance, tax planning, client advising, and staff development within a collaborative, team-centered environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage tax engagements for privately held businesses, nonprofits, and individuals.
  • Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, and partnership federal and state income tax returns.
  • Conduct sophisticated federal and state tax research, preparing clear summaries and actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Stay current on changes in tax legislation, IRS regulations, and emerging tax policy issues.
  • Provide strategic year-end tax planning and advisory services for both individuals and business clients.
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain strong professional client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Assist with staff development, including training, reviewing work, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Analyze annual trial balances, complete account reconciliations, and prepare year-end journal entries.
  • Support multi-state and multi-entity tax filings where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA or EA license preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of tax experience within a public accounting environment; 6-10 years preferred.
  • Strong understanding of tax principles, compliance requirements, and multi-entity structures.
  • Proficiency with accounting and tax software; experience with Quick Books and CCH is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, organizational, and client service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience working with multi-state or multi-entity clients is advantageous.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary: $80K - $103K/year, depending on experience.
