The Merrill Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter Paramedic. We are looking for dedicated professionals who are passionate about public service, teamwork, and delivering high-quality emergency medical and fire services to our community.
Minimum Qualifications (at Time of Hire)- Must be 18 years of age
- Wisconsin / IFSAC accredited Firefighter I certification
- Licensed Wisconsin EMT-Basic (or higher)
OR
- Licensed Wisconsin Paramedic
- Current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Must meet a 60-mile residency requirement within 60 days of successfully completing the probationary period
- 48/96 work schedule (2 days on, 4 days off)
- 95% starting wage classification – $77,527 annual FF/P salary
- Rotating daily crew assignments (not always assigned to ambulance)
- Union contract credits and bonuses (up to $9,300 annually)
- Numerous backfill opportunities for overtime or comp time
- Liberal work trade policy for schedule flexibility
- Family-style work environment where members are valued and supported
- Lateral transfers accepted
- 100% wage placement
- Up to 7 years credit toward vacation accrual
