General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate smiles, greets all customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor, creates a safe and secure shopping environment, keeps egress clear, and immediately reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional; recognizes fellow associates through company recognition programs.
  • Assists customers with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably, and greets all customers by making eye contact, smiling, and saying “hello” and “thank you” throughout the store.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to customer service calls and handles all customer issues in a courteous and helpful manner, calling store leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company’s dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise receipts, merchandises per company best practice, and maintains merchandise/brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty, safeguards confidential information, cash, and credit card information, and protects merchandise.
  • Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, properly processes each piece, and notifies store leadership for disposals.
  • Follows cash, check, charge‑card, and refund procedures, maintains accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform their role, maximizes productivity, and minimizes steps and touches.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
