Position: Occupational Med Technician/Paramedic (Pro Services)

Overview

Total Safety is looking for an Occupational Med Technician/Paramedic to join their safety-conscious team. The Occupational Med Technician/Paramedic responds to emergency situations, staying within the requirements and restrictions of the level of training at all times. Administers the best treatment and follow-up plan possible for all emergency and non-emergency medical situations as they arise. Assists in identifying hazards and assessing risks and planning practical and effective solutions toward safe working practices in compliance with client standards.

Essential Job Functions

Medical:

  • Administers the best treatment and follow-up plan for sick and injured personnel (emergency and non-emergency) according to established medical protocols; staying within the requirements and restrictions of level of training at all times.
  • Provides both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, invasive airway management, cardiac monitoring, and administration of medications.
  • Completes extensive written documentation on patient condition and treatment provided.
  • Follows HIPAA privacy guidelines and Total Safety policies & procedures.
  • Maintains accurate patient records for all patients for emergency or non-emergency care. Maintains direct contact with TS Medical Director in all cases.
  • Maintains medical supply inventory to assure proper levels for patient care. Maintains a current copy of Total Safety Medical Guidelines on location. Maintains narcotics under secure control.
  • Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfection procedures. Decontaminates treatment area and equipment after treatment of a patient with contagious infection or hazardous materials exposure. Disposes of medical and hazardous waste according to established procedures.
  • Teaches First Aid / CPR classes as needed by site supervisor. May teach other safety-related classes if certified and required.

Safety:

  • Coordinate with site leadership to facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety standards and guidelines.
  • Provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations. Conduct continuous monitoring for violations and potential hazards on location, or perform risk assessments. Focus on prevention and risk assessment to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards.
Other Sections
  • Safety Orientation:
    Review general safety rules; ensure personnel sign and file safety documents; communicate on-site emergency procedures and evacuation plans; review drug policies; ensure PPE and JSA compliance; identify SSEs and mentor assignments; review Hazard Communications and SDS provisions.
  • Safety Meetings:
    Attend and document all pre-task, weekly, and pre-tour safety meetings; record minutes and safety notices.
  • Job Safety Analysis:
    Perform periodic JSA audits and track issues for unsafe trends.
  • Incidents and Analysis:
    Prepare root cause analyses with supporting digital documentation; ensure SDS on site.
  • Inspections:
    Conduct daily site walk-throughs, review discrepancies, observe non-routine tasks, and document findings; assist with OSHA compliance inspections.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment:
    Regular standing and walking; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; may wear SCBA; travel to customer sites; exposure to harsh conditions and potentially dangerous environments; offshore work may require HUET and related certifications.
Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience working for an advanced life support EMS service, hospital, or US military. Preferred (2) years of experience in industrial/offshore/remote settings with medical and safety components. Experience with OSHA and/or BSEE standards is a plus.
