Job Details
• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 10 postpartum beds, and 2 OR suites for C-sections,
• Average of 120 births per month with a patient population including laboring patients (32 weeks+), elective and medical inductions, stable antepartum, postpartum patients, and well newborns,
• Ratio standards follow AWHONN guidelines, primarily 1:1 in L&D and 1:6 for couple care in postpartum,
• Unit uses Epic EMR and GE Connect electronic fetal monitoring,
• 12-hour night shifts (3x12), with weekend and holiday coverage based on unit needs,
• Travelers may occasionally float to nearby L&D units within the valley (all within 20 minutes) if needed,
• No on-call or standby requirement,
• Blue scrubs provided on unit,
Job Requirements
• Active compact RN license required at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience,
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE (completed at least once), and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring,
• Experience required in L&D, postpartum, and circulating for C-sections; triage experience strongly preferred,
• Must have experience titrating drips such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and occasionally insulin,
• Experience using Epic EMR preferred,
• Driver's license required for consideration,
• Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years, both including employment dates and rehire eligibility,
• No local candidates; must live outside a 50-mile radius,
• Former permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying as a traveler,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include care of laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients and circulating for C-sections,
• Charge RN, Resource RN, and House Supervisor support present on each shift, with non-assigned charge and resource staff,
• CNA support is available 4-5 days and nights per week, with a unit clerk 24/7,
• 24/7 in-house coverage by OB hospitalist and CRNA; on-call neonatologist available within 15 minutes,
• Orientation customized to each traveler, typically 4-6 shifts,
• No blocked scheduling or extensive special scheduling requests are accepted,
