Compensation: $25–$35+/hour depending on experience
Location: Meridian, Idaho
FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Working on dispatch (hours may vary based on project needs)
CMT Technical Services is seeking an Experienced Construction Materials Field Technician to support construction projects throughout the Meridian and Boise metropolitan area
. This role performs field testing and inspection of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
This position is ideal for technicians with experience in soils, concrete, and asphalt testing who enjoy working outdoors, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of infrastructure and commercial construction projects.
What you'll be doing:Perform routine field testing of construction materials
, including soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphaltConduct field tests such as:
Concrete slump, air, temperature, and cylinder sampling
Soil compaction and in-place density testing using nuclear gauges
Aggregate sampling and verification
Verify construction work meets project specifications, plans, and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, and ITD requirements)
Accurately complete daily field reports, test documentation, and datasheets
Communicate test results and observations to project managers, contractors, and engineers
Maintain and operate testing equipment in accordance with safety and calibration requirements
Follow company safety procedures and jobsite safety requirements at all times
Travel to project sites using company or personal vehicle as needed
High school diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of construction materials field testing experience
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Experience working on Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) or public infrastructure projects
Strong familiarity with ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures
Experience performing nuclear density testing and concrete field testing
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Positive attitude with strong safety awareness and reliability
Required or ability to obtain shortly after hire:
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
WAQTC In-Place Density Certification
Preferred:
WAQTC Aggregate Testing
WAQTC Embankment & Base
WAQTC Asphalt Technician
NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt)
Nuclear Gauge Radiation Safety Training
