Outreach Workers play a vital role in connecting young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability with life-changing resources. Working as part of a outreach team, this position involves engaging youth on the street in areas where they are known to congregate — such as parks, encampments, and community hubs — to provide crisis intervention, basic needs assistance, and referrals to housing and supportive services.
The program is hiring 2 Outreach Workers, these positions are 30 hours a week. These positions will work Tuesday through Friday 3:30p-9:30p and Saturdays 5:00p-11p.
- Build strong relationships with young people to understand their needs and challenges.
- Conduct outreach activities to promote available services and programs within the community.
- Provide harm reduction supplies, hygiene kits and other basic needs items.
- Complete initial and ongoing assessments of program participants
- Collaborate with local Homeless Outreach teams.
- Assist in crisis intervention and safety planning when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation of contacts, services, and referrals in HMIS and internal systems.
- Uphold all safety protocols during outreach activities.
- H.S. Diploma required. Degree in human service or related field preferred.
- Two years of professional experience in human service field.
- At least one year experience working with youth.
- Outreach and/or Counseling experience and experience working within a diverse team preferred.
- Strong skills in motivational interviewing techniques to effectively engage clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
