Women and Families Center (WFC) is a dynamic human service organization dedicated to promoting equity, empowerment, and independence in the lives of those it serves. WFC offers a range of programs, including street outreach, housing and services for homeless youth, after-school enrichment, sexual assault crisis services, prevention programming, and employment training. The organization is committed to being a leading force for positive social change.

WFC aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals and communities through client-centered and innovative solutions.

Outreach Workers play a vital role in connecting young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability with life-changing resources. Working as part of a outreach team, this position involves engaging youth on the street in areas where they are known to congregate — such as parks, encampments, and community hubs — to provide crisis intervention, basic needs assistance, and referrals to housing and supportive services.

The program is hiring 2 Outreach Workers, these positions are 30 hours a week. These positions will work Tuesday through Friday 3:30p-9:30p and Saturdays 5:00p-11p.

What you’ll do
  • Build strong relationships with young people to understand their needs and challenges.
  • Conduct outreach activities to promote available services and programs within the community.
  • Provide harm reduction supplies, hygiene kits and other basic needs items.
  • Complete initial and ongoing assessments of program participants
  • Collaborate with local Homeless Outreach teams.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and safety planning when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of contacts, services, and referrals in HMIS and internal systems.
  • Uphold all safety protocols during outreach activities.
Experience
  • H.S. Diploma required. Degree in human service or related field preferred.
  • Two years of professional experience in human service field.
  • At least one year experience working with youth.
  • Outreach and/or Counseling experience and experience working within a diverse team preferred.
  • Strong skills in motivational interviewing techniques to effectively engage clients.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
