Job Description
Temporary, Full Time Dental Assistant opportunity in Meriden, Monday–Friday for approximately 3+ months. Travel may be required with flexible travel arrangements and reliable transportation. Supports dentist in delivering primary dental care, prepares equipment and the workplace for use, and contributes to a supportive atmosphere for dental patients. Uses chairside, four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepares office and treatment areas each day.
- Performs pre/post treatment set‑up/clean‑up procedures for each patient in accordance with all Agency protocols.
- Assists the dentist at chairside, using 4-handed techniques.
- Exhibits appropriate knowledge of instruments and techniques utilized for all procedures.
- Performs independent patient services, as directed, including patient triage, radiographs, impressions, suture removal, temporary fillings, recement crowns, laboratory work.
- Maintains dental facility, treatment areas, equipment and instruments in proper working order.
- Maintains adequate inventory of dental supplies.
- Strictly follow safety and infection control standards at all times, including appropriate use of PPE.
- Takes quality radiographs, as prescribed; process, mount and label properly.
- Prepares patients for dental procedures.
- Performs pre/post treatment setup and cleanup per agency protocols.
- Assists the dentist at chairside with four-handed dentistry.
- Maintains instruments, equipment, and workspace in good condition.
- Ensures proper infection control and safety standards are followed.
- Coordinates with the team to provide quality patient care and service.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting School or two years of dental experience in general dentistry.
- Certified in Dental Radiology and Infection Control by DANB.
- Commitment to preventive dental care.
- Knowledge/interest in providing care to a diverse patient population.
- Written and oral bilingual fluency in language spoken by our patient population (e.g., English/Spanish or English/Polish) strongly preferred.
