Position: Development Specialist - Early Childhood (PT)

Description

The Schwartz Early Childhood School (ECS) at the SJCC is seeking a Developmental Specialist to support our inclusive, Reggio-inspired early childhood program serving children from infancy through age six.

This role is ideal for a skilled early childhood professional with deep knowledge of child development and early intervention who is passionate about supporting children with developmental delays, disabilities, or social-emotional/behavioral challenges. The Developmental Specialist partners closely with educators, leadership, and families to strengthen inclusive practices, support early identification, and build capacity through observation, consultation, coaching, and reflection.

This position focuses on consultative and systems-level support rather than direct therapeutic services.

This is a Part-Time position with a salary of $30-$40 per hour dependent on education and experience.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with children ages 0–5 and their families in a developmental support, early intervention, or specialist role (school-based experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development, social-emotional development, and inclusive practices.

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Certification.
  • Experience working in a progressive or Reggio-inspired early childhood setting.
  • Familiarity with local early intervention systems and community resources.
