Principal Responsibilities:
Bring your passion to J Camp this summer! We’re looking for talented Camp Activity Specialists who love inspiring kids through what they do best—whether that’s art, drama, dance, music, cooking, archery, nature exploration, sports, challenge courses, or mystery STEAM. If you’re creative, energetic, and excited to share your skills with campers of all ages, this is your chance to turn your talent into an unforgettable summer experience.
- Assume responsibility for a group of campers under their care to ensure a positive and safe camp experience.
- Plan and lead activities appropriate for each age group.
- Ensure that the spaces used for J Camp are thoroughly cleaned before leaving.
- Share activity plans with supervisor by an agreed upon date in advance of each activity.
- Provide a materials list to supervisor by an agreed upon date in advance of each activity.
- Ensure that equipment is stored and used adequately and properly.
- Assist with special event planning and implementation.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the kids through positive behavior management, supportive interactions, and conflict resolution.
- Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure children get to where they need to go as directed by the J Camp leadership team, including playing an integral role during arrival and dismissal.
- Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC.
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/ExperienceExperience and/or training working with children preferred. Attendance at J Camp staff training is required unless approval to train separately is granted in writing by the Camp Director.
Other SkillsCurrent CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, through an approved certifying body, or willingness to get certified.
