Bring education to life as our Educational Technology Specialist for Immersive Learning. In this specialized role, you will be the technical engine behind Merced College's Dreamscape Lab, using your expertise in Unity software to build simulations and interactive environments that transform abstract concepts into tangible experiences. You will take projects from concept to deployment across various XR platforms, including Meta VR and spatial computing devices.
Beyond development, you will be a key resource for the campus community, researching and piloting emerging XR applications to keep our curriculum on the cutting edge. You must troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues while collaborating with the Innovation Team to assess the educational impact of these tools.
- Develop and deploy Unity-based simulations and interactive environments for educational use.
- Configure and maintain hardware and software components for XR projects.
- Provide training to faculty on the integration of XR tools and educational software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to multimedia equipment and software.
- Collaborate with the Audio‑Visual team to support distance learning and multimedia instructional activities.
- Manage inventory of equipment and supplies needed for audio‑visual and XR initiatives.
- Conduct research on emerging XR applications and pilot new tools for curricular enhancement.
- Participate in staff development programs focused on multimedia and XR technologies.
- Three (3) years of applicable experience and applicable certifications.
- Or Bachelor’s degree and applicable certifications, or one (1) year of applicable experience.
- Or Associate’s degree and four (4) years of applicable experience.
- Or High school diploma/GED, Journeyman‑level professional training, and two (2) years of applicable work experience.
- Sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Experience operating audio and video production equipment and multimedia.
- Experience installing classroom instructional technology equipment.
- Knowledge of classroom educational software such as PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat.
