Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist with active state licensure and BLS certification for a post-acute care assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in a post-acute care setting, serving both inpatient and outpatient populations
  • Inpatient adult and geriatric cases include orthopedic, neurological, medical, and pulmonary conditions
  • Outpatient caseload ranges from pediatric to geriatric patients with diverse therapy needs
  • Therapy team includes physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as therapy aides and assistants
  • Department utilizes Cerner B (upgraded version) for documentation
  • Floating within inpatient acute hospital settings is required
  • Shift is Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, with 8-hour days; consideration for 10-hour shifts for travelers
  • General department orientation with skills checklist and clinician assignment
  • Scrub attire includes a burgundy polo or long-sleeve shirt with black pants and shoes
  • Duties include evaluation, planning, and implementation of physical therapy for a broad age range in inpatient and outpatient environments
  • Team consists of lead and supervising therapists as well as therapy aides and assistants across disciplines
  • Weekend coverage has been handled with 10-hour shifts split among PT travelers as needed
  • No holiday coverage is currently required for this role
  • JCAHO certification for stroke care and early mobility program in place
  • Returning candidates must not have been employed by related facilities within the last year unless previously employed PRN through outside agencies
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • General department and floor orientation is provided
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Physical Therapist in relevant settings
  • Active state or compact PT license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • License required if applicable
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Must provide two references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past three years, with employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of current driver’s license required
