The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Senior Cook organizes and participates in full-scope kitchen activities at a remote site providing services to large groups of visiting teachers, parents, and students. Oversees menu development and food preparation, and cooks meals in large quantities. Orders and maintains an inventory of food items. Maintains food service records in compliance with state and federal requirements.

This position requires competency in staging food service for large groups, leadership over food service staff, accountability for food safety and sanitation, and computer data entry skills. Knowledge of the Child Nutrition Lunch Program (CNLP).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a High School diploma or recognized equivalent plus one year of specialized training in food service, and two years of progressively responsible experience in food preparation, menu planning, inventory and ordering.

CREDENTIALS AND/OR

SKILLS:

Requires valid California Driver’s License. If using personal vehicle in the course of employment, must have proof of liability insurance required by law. DMV Driver Record printout. Safe-Serve or equivalent certification is required. Requires satisfactory results from pre-employment strength test.
