OverviewThe Community Education Coordinator works with a dedicated team to provide participants with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop. This position requires creativity, strong leadership, and exceptional customer service skills, along with the ability to successfully deliver educational opportunities for both children and adults. We are looking for someone who is willing to think outside the box and be an innovator in how Community Education operates, bringing fresh ideas and new approaches to engage learners and expand program offerings.
The ability to create and maintain strong community partnerships and relationships is essential to enhancing programming and connecting our department with local organizations and resources. Each summer, the Community Education Coordinator will lead the team in offering College for Kids - an experience that demands high energy, multi‑tasking ability, and a knack for working collaboratively with instructors, parents, and children.

Range 19, 40 hours/week, 12 months/year
General DescriptionUnder limited supervision, responsible for the coordination of the day‑to‑day operation of the Community Services/Education Office in the provision of professional and community educational programs; performs technical and clerical duties involving the use of considerable independent judgment, initiative and interaction with the general public.
Essential Functions- Develop classes, workshops, promotional materials, press releases, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures
- Responsible for accurate instructor hire forms and timely payment of instructors upon class completion
- Assist instructors with preparing materials, contacting students and preparing classroom as needed
- Maintain prompt and friendly customer service in person and over the phone
- Register participants for classes, workshops, and events and sell tickets over the counter in the office as needed
- Prepare daily deposit of monies collected as assigned by director
- Process sensitive information such as credit card numbers, login or password information
- Order supplies and materials
- Handle logistical details of classes, including classroom keys and assignments, room signs, late registrations, and student questions
- Maintain records and updates database on students and classes
- Update website & database descriptions regarding classes, class requirements, and student receipts
- Prepare and distribute community education surveys and class reviews
- Introduce speakers/presenters to theater audiences in director’s absence
- Assist with training and supervision of subordinate employees, student assistants, and summer volunteers
- Plan, schedule and organize summer programs, including adult classes, aquatics, youth classes, sports camps, high school leadership camp, preschool camp, and summer theater
