We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Purchaser to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the necessary materials for our production floor, ensuring the procurement process supports our operational needs and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Efficiently order steel and other materials required for production, ensuring timely delivery and cost‑effectiveness.
- Monitor and analyze market prices for steel and other materials, adjusting purchasing strategies accordingly to maintain competitive pricing.
- Oversee the safety PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) vending machines, ensuring they are stocked and compliant with safety standards.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure the best possible terms and cost savings for the company.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, evaluating their performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with the inventory team to manage stock levels, conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy and prompt restocking.
- Generate reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and safety teams to align procurement initiatives with company goals and project requirements.
- Drive proactive involvement in all functional activities related to sourcing (attending project meetings, working with appropriate individuals to understand new part requirements, etc).
- Perform on‑site supplier evaluation visits to assist in the recommendation process.
- Ensure on‑time delivery of materials and resolve procurement, quality, invoice, and inventory issues.
- Supplier evaluation, onboarding, offboarding.
- Evaluate situations objectively and demonstrate the ability to make decisions that are intended to have a positive impact on work performance or area and the total business.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred or 3+ years in a purchasing role.
- Experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the manufacturing or heavy fabrication industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective supplier relationships.
- Knowledge of steel products and market trends is a plus.
