Accounts Payable Associate (permanent position) – Mequon, WI
Do you get a little thrill when the numbers balance perfectly? Do you dream in debits and credits? We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk who’s organized, sharp-eyed, and ready to keep our finances running like a well-oiled machine. Whether you’re fresh out of school or have a few years under your belt, this is a great opportunity to grow your career.
Join our client as they begin their growth journey. This is a permanent opportunity in the Mequon, WI area. The target salary is $50,000 – 60,000 with other perks. No visa sponsorship, relocation assistance, or subcontracting arrangements are available.
What You’ll Actually Do(Spoiler: it’s more than just pushing paper.)
- Review, verify, and process invoices — you’ll be the gatekeeper making sure everything adds up before payments go out
- Play detective: match purchase orders to receipts and invoices, and track down any discrepancies
- Process payments via ACH, electronic transfers, and sometimes, good old-fashioned check runs
- Keep vendor files squeaky clean — W-9s, payment records, contact info, the whole nine yards
- Reconcile AP transactions and keep an eye on aging reports so nothing slips through the cracks
- Pitch in on month‑end close activities like accruals and reconciliations (yes, it’s crunch time, but my client provides snacks)
- Be the friendly point of contact for vendor questions and payment inquiries
- Make sure expenses land in the right GL accounts and cost centers — because nobody likes a reclassification mess
- Help with 1099 prep and audit support when the time comes
- Spot ways to make the AP process better, faster, and smarter — we love a good “what if we tried this?” moment
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or something similar
- 0–4 years of AP or general accounting experience (internships count!)
- Solid handle on basic accounting principles — you know your debits from your credits
- Excel skills that go beyond just opening a spreadsheet (think VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and formulas)
- Killer attention to detail — the kind of person who spots a penny discrepancy from across the room
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Experience with ERP or accounting software like SAP, Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar platforms
- Exposure to a high‑volume AP environment (if you’ve survived invoice avalanche season, we salute you)
- Organized to the core — your inbox is probably sorted by color and your desk doesn’t look like a crime scene
- A clear communicator who can talk to vendors, teammates, and managers with ease
- Self‑motivated but also a great team player (you can do both, we believe in you)
- Trustworthy with confidential financial info — you’re a vault
- A problem‑solver who’d rather dig into an issue than sweep it under the rug
- Someone who takes deadlines seriously but doesn’t take themselves too seriously
- $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on your experience and skills
- Potential for hybrid work flexibility once trained
- Real opportunities to learn, grow, and level up your career in finance
