As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for reducing product and process variation through the use of Six Sigma/statistical tools and the implementation or improvement of existing procedures and process controls. In this critical role, you will also be responsible for:
- Support day to day product and process operations for coating and compounding assets in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Be a business partner to the site leadership team.
- Identify and analyze production problems using Six Sigma methodologies to control and improve manufacturing processes.
- Loss reduction and continuous improvement in coating line productivity and product quality through the use of problem solving, Six Sigma and project management skills.
- Continually improve and optimize current products through variation reduction.
- Provide support for new product development and material changes as they arise by interacting with and being a member of Marketing and R&D teams.
- Develop control strategies for sustaining all continuous improvement projects.
- Initiate, manage and participate in safety, quality, cost and process improvement projects.
- Provide ongoing process evaluation—including trials and capability studies.
- Implementation of new equipment and operating procedures.
- Mentoring other process engineers and operations personnel.
- Developing and implementing technical training.
- Scoping and executing capital projects.
- Participating, leading and sponsoring various task teams.
- Assisting in the development of long‑term strategies.
- Essential: Experience with statistical analysis, statistical process controls (SPC), DOE, FMEA and MSE.
- Essential: Ability to develop, implement, monitor, measure and control functional improvement plans.
- Essential: Problem‑solving, decision analysis and situation appraisal skills.
- Essential: Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- Preferred: Experience with controls, instrumentation, PLC knowledge is also a plus.
- Preferred: Experience in a 24/7 environment.
- Preferred: Knowledge in PSM processes.
- Preferred: Previous experience with PSA/web‑based processes.
- Preferred: Web handling experience.
- Education: BS degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (or associate degree in mechanical or chemical engineering technology with 7+ years of industry experience).
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to develop influential relationships at multiple levels, lead positively and collaboratively.
- Skills: Ability to influence others.
- Skills: Approachable, effective in giving and receiving feedback.
- Skills: Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Technical: Strong PC skills—MS Office, Google platforms, Lotus Notes, MINITAB, AutoCAD, Inventor/Solid Works; QSI and QIS experience is a plus.
- Experience: Previous ISO 9001‑2000 implementation, improvement and sustainment experience.
- Experience: Previous Six Sigma exposure/experience;
Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations, engineering or a related field, including co‑op and internship experience.
- Flexibility on work hours (on‑call after hours or weekends as needed).
The salary range for this position is $91,350 – $125,300 per year.
