Facilitates patient visits and supports the health care provider by anticipating and responding to patient needs and requests of the health care team. Coordinates details of patient visits to allow care providers to focus on patient care. Activities may include scheduling complex appointments, coordinating daily activities of a multispecialty medical practice, preparing patients, completing pre-examination records, and managing patient materials flow.
Obtains or verifies patient demographics and medical insurance information, informs patients of scheduling delays or changes, and serves as a direct contact and resource. Schedules and reschedules tests/consults across multiple communication channels. Performs related administrative duties such as processing ABN forms, insurance verification, and handling patient appointment communications and materials. Able to navigate multiple electronic applications and devices (e.g., iPad/tablets, Text Reminder Notifications, Kiosks).
This role may require cross-coverage and travel depending on location. Willingness to adjust work schedules to meet department or clinical needs.
Minimum High school diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience (administrative, physician's office, appointment scheduler, or retail/service industry). Computer skills required with Windows-based applications and intranet/internet use; ability to keyboard and navigate multiple applications.
Preferred Associate's Degree and coursework in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Administrative Clinic Assistant, Medical Office, Medical Assistant, Health Care/Medical Receptionist). Completion of Medical Terminology course preferred. EHR exposure preferred. Ability to work independently, stay organized, multitask, and communicate effectively (verbal, written, and telephone etiquette). Ability to handle difficult situations with empathy in a dynamic environment. Flexible, adaptable to changing work environment and schedules.
Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required in some areas. Additional coursework may be required upon hire.
