Job Duties:

The Department of Operations and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position, for a three-year renewable contract, to join us on January 1, 2026. We are seeking two dedicated industry-based educators in construction that demonstrate leadership and utilize experiential, applied-learning instructional techniques.

The successful candidate will become part of an innovative and supportive community that prioritizes an executive-based learning model in teaching with active student engagement. As a polytechnic university, we emphasize experiential learning by providing students with authentic as well as hands-on experiences in both classroom, laboratory and industry settings. Our program, with over 300 students, receives substantial support from alumni and major construction firms both regionally and nationally.

The primary role of this position will be teaching in construction, both traditional and hybrid courses in Estimating, Project Scheduling and Cost Control, Light Construction Methods and Materials, and Architectural Graphics.

Expected scholarly and service activities include advisement of students in undergraduate programs, tracking program learning outcomes, serving on the program team, and advising relevant student organizations or competition teams.

Job Responsibilities:

* Engage in advising students.

* Maintain and active presence in service in the construction industry and students in the construction program, ex: a member and active in the construction related associations, projects within courses, providing continuing education courses, consulting with companies with examples coming into courses.

* Heighten lab experiences within classes to mirror industry responsibilities of Construction Managers. i.e. deepen course curriculum with greater quality and infuse industry practices that are embedded in teaching responsibilities from the construction industry.

* Teach assigned courses

* Provide the Department Chair and students your course syllabus by the first day of class. Ensure that the syllabus aligns with UW-Stout's syllabus policy located in the Curriculum Handbook (link can be found on the UW-Stout Provost's Office Intranet site)

* Communicate directly with the Department Chair regarding available course resources (textbooks, e-books, student expenses, etc.) and resource request timelines/procedures established by the university

* Schedule, maintain office hours and/or online availability for students, in alignment with departmental expectations

* Provide grades following the process/timeline established by the registrar

* Participate in the university online learning environment, which includes the Canvas learning management system

* Participate in course and/or program assessment practices as requested

* Work with the Disability Services office (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) to foster an inclusive learning environment, when students disclose the need for learning accommodations

* Work with the Nakatani Teaching and Learning Center for instructional professional development opportunities sponsored by/via UW-Stout

Department:

The Operations and Management (O&M) Department is housed in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Management. O&M primarily serves undergraduate majors in Management, Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Technology, Construction, and Packaging, as well as graduate majors in Training and Human Resources Development, Engineering, Risk Control and Management, and Operations and Supply Management.
