The Home Depot — Customer Service/Sales

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. These associates learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project. They greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments.

They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe. They follow all safety policies and standards, complete safety training, immediately correct hazards or report conditions to the Manager on Duty, and work safely to avoid endangering themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers. They cooperate with their Department Supervisor and other department associates. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental.

Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

• Provide fast, friendly service by actively engaging with customers to assess needs and offer appropriate solutions.
• Learn product information and use tools to advise customers and sell projects.
• Greet, qualify, recommend, and close sales with customers in their department and assist with basics in adjacent areas.
• Maintain in-stock conditions, ensure areas are clean, safe, and shop-able.
• Follow safety policies, complete required safety training, and promptly address hazards or report conditions to the Manager on Duty.
• Collaborate with Department Supervisors and other department teammates.
