The Nurse Triage Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for an identified group of patients within the Froedtert and MCW Patient Engagement Center. Responsibilities may include triage (telephone based), providing patient and family education, managing test results, coordinating patient care needs, medication refills and other tasks as assigned from a clinical capacity.
Customer-focused and friendly communication skills will provide an exceptional experience and set the stage for patient preference and loyalty to Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin. Competencies may include Nurse triage training, and other duties as assigned. The Nurse Triage Registered Nurse job description is adapted from standard nursing practice references.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a defined patient group in the Patient Engagement Center.
- Conduct telephone-based triage and provide patient and family education.
- Manage test results and coordinate patient care needs, including medication refills.
- Perform other tasks as assigned from a clinical capacity.
Two years of clinical experience is required. One year of RN experience or nursing student clinical rotation experience may be considered. Three to five years of clinical nursing experience in an applicable specialty.
EducationProfessional knowledge of nursing theory and practice normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
TrainingPreferred proficiency with Epic Nurse Triage Software and call center technology.
Special SkillsExcellent oral and written communication. Ability to multi-task. Ability to mentor other co-workers on tasks and workflows. Strong organizational skills. Excellent customer service. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Knowledge of medical terminology and Epic.
Liciensure & CertificationsRequires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact. American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) or AHA-approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
Compensation & BenefitsPay is expected to be between $29.70 - $46.04 per hour. Final compensation is based on experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
