Job SummaryThe Staff RN VCT assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for an identified group of patients. The individual must demonstrate competency in the delivery of care to a primarily adult population. The job description incorporates the essential functions adapted from the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and the American Association of Critical‑Care Nurses Statement for Supporting High Acuity, Progressive, and Critical Care Patients.
ExperienceFive years of critical care, or equivalent area of practice experience, is required. Over five years of critical care, or equivalent area of practice experience, is preferred.
EducationProfessional knowledge of nursing theory and clinical practice at a level generally acquired through completing a minimum of two years of education at an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
TrainingClinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to the area of employment. Includes a fundamental understanding of hemodynamics and sepsis and their related interventional treatments. Knowledge of bedside devices includes, but is not limited to, intra‑aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy, 12‑lead EKG interpretation, NIH Stroke Scale, ventricular assist devices, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
LicensureRequires current, unrestricted, state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi‑state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA‑approved equivalent is required upon hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within 90 days of hire. CCRN, CCRN‑E, CSC, CMC, CNRN, CEN, TNCC, TNS is preferred.
