Position: Engine Assembly Mechanic
Reports To: Director of Operations
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
BASIC WORKER FUNCTIONAssembles piston and turbine engines/build up IAW approved technical data. Performs Final assembly installations. Completes final stages of helicopter assembly prior to flight, ensuring all rigging and adjustments meet specifications. Works squawks on helicopters before and during flight testing. All work is performed in accordance with blueprints, technical documentation, and approved procedures.
ADDITIONAL GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS- Performs final assembly installation of major and subassemblies.
- Makes all final rigging adjustments prior to flight.
- Works on squawks and minor adjustments during pre-flight and flight testing.
- Sets up, operates, and adjusts all fixtures, machines, and equipment in final assembly area.
- Uses hand and power tools for installation, adjustment, and testing tasks.
- Troubleshoots assembly or flight line problems.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed.
- Collaborates with team members and other departments as required.
- Observes all safety and quality regulations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Extensive experience and demonstrated expertise in helicopter manufacturing, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of helicopter fundamentals and flight theory.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Detail-oriented with precision assembly skills.
- A&P Certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Skilled in using precision measuring devices, including micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to perform precision work with hands.
- Knowledge of all operations and procedures within the final assembly area.
- Knowledge of flight line rigging, adjustments, and tracking procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years experience in helicopter assembly or related mechanical work preferred.
- A&P Certification required or ability to obtain.
- Prior experience in FAA-regulated or quality-controlled manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Manual dexterity required for precision mechanical work.
- Adequate vision for inspections, measurements, and reading technical documents.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
