Ivonescimab is an investigational therapy not presently approved by any regulatory authority other than China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). Summit is headquartered in Miami, Florida, with additional offices in California, New Jersey, the UK, and Ireland.

Overview Of Role

The Sr. Counsel, Employment will provide timely and responsive legal advice on employment law issues—including hiring, benefits, employee relations, performance management, corrective action, termination, restructuring, leaves of absence, accommodations, and EEOC compliance—across U.S. and international operations. The role will also conduct investigations, negotiate dispute resolutions, provide internal training, develop policy, and oversee employment litigation.

Role And Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice/consultation on employee, human resources, and employment matters.
  • Draft and review employment documents such as offer letters, employment contracts, separation agreements, restrictive covenants, employee handbooks, SOPs, and objective‑based performance plans.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to deliver risk‑managed, business‑focused solutions.
  • Advise and train managers on employment law issues, including documentation practices and performance improvement plans.
  • Review and negotiate HR and employment agreements, including benefits, ERISA, placement, agency/EOR, and employment agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate G&A MSAs, SOWs, and service agreements across finance, IT, facilities, and leases.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law changes to provide informed advice.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, terminations, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Partner with HR to develop litigation‑risk mitigation strategies and resolve disputes proactively.
  • Advise on retirement benefit plan administration and compliance, including profit‑sharing, 401(k), and welfare plans.
  • Address compliance issues and technical matters in the day‑to‑day administration of employee benefit plans and programs.
  • Manage and oversee employment‑related claims, litigation, arbitration, agency charges, and outside counsel.
  • Develop trusted partner relationships with stakeholders.
  • Support global operations with international employment law issues, cross‑border compliance, and expatriate assignments.
  • Handle miscellaneous legal tasks or special assignments as needed.
Experience, Education And Specialized Knowledge And Skills
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admission to a U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of employment law experience, preferably with a national law firm or in‑house counsel.
  • Experience in defending employment discrimination, EEOC/DOL, and wage‑and‑hour claims.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and compliance.
  • Proven litigation and dispute resolution experience.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and writing skills.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self‑starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment and exercise sound commercial and legal judgment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
