SLAC Human Resources is seeking an experienced and talented HR/Payroll professional to provide consistent, accurate and professional administration of all employment and payroll transactions. This position will often be the first point of contact for many human resources inquiries and serve as a resource to staff on HR/Payroll procedures and practices.

In July 2026, SLAC will be transitioning from People Soft HR to Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM (Human Capital Management), so an in-depth knowledge of both systems is required. Some expected changes to this role when Oracle goes live include a reduction in initiating certain records transactions and an increase in validating transactions started by others.

Responsibilities

Your Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Records and Payroll Administration
    • Administer all aspects of HR transaction processing, including completing and submitting payroll-related transactions in accordance with established policies, timelines, and compliance requirements
    • Ensure accurate and timely submission of transactions from and between SLAC and Stanford University Payroll in People Soft
    • Maintain accurate HR records and payroll documentation, ensuring up-to-date employee personnel records
    • Records retention and archival of personnel file, including usage of the Open Text platform
  • Data Management and Transactions
    • Enter a range of People Soft and Oracle Fusion Human Capital transactions to include new hires, address changes, terminations, status changes, retroactive reclassifications, layoffs and reorganizations.
    • Coordinate and perform data management activities including initiating transactions (e.g. Cell Phone Allowance, Payroll Advances, etc.) and ensuring compliance with Stanford policies.
    • Process and submit accurate and timely transactions to payroll (via Stanford Webform) while using People Soft
  • Issue Resolution and Support
    • Research and resolve HR and payroll-related issues, collaborating with HR, Records Team Lead, Payroll, Accounting specialists, and others
    • Serve as a resource on HR Records and Payroll issues and effectively communicate human resources policies and explain human resources processes and procedures.
    • Provide HR Records and Payroll support, customer service, and issue resolution.
    • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing HR-related inquiries and assisting staff with selected onboarding and offboarding activities.
    • Serve as a key contact for HR inquiries, providing consistent and accurate service
  • Audits and Compliance
    • Conduct regular audits and reviews of transactions performed by self and others for pay actions, ensuring accuracy and completeness of employee data, and implementing scheduled pay increases and bonuses.
  • System Transition and Improvement
    • Assist in testing of new Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM system changes, run routine reports, answer data questions, and perform routine process and data entry audits.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
    • Create and maintain employee personnel records.
    • Enter data, answer phones, respond to email inquiries
    • Process employment verifications via telephone and mail.
    • Manage timesheets for employees placed on paid administrative leaves.
Qualifications
  • To Be Successful In This Position You Will Bring
    • Associate degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strategic and critical thinking skills are a must.
    • Ability to work independently and without close supervision.
    • Ability to learn and apply general human resources policies using problem solving skills.
