About Flora Family Foundation

The Flora Family Foundation, based in Menlo Park, California, was established in 1998 by the family of William R. Hewlett, co-founder of the Hewlett-Packard Company, and his wife Flora Lamson Hewlett. The foundation was created to offer members of the Hewlett family the opportunity to pursue their philanthropic interests independently of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to enhance the well-being of people globally through support for various charitable organizations.

Operations are guided by the belief in a broader humanistic obligation that transcends personal interests. The Flora Family Foundation is structured around a Family Council and a Board of Directors, both of which include family members and independent members. They engage in decision-making related to unrestricted and strategic grantmaking, supporting various initiatives in the U.S. and internationally. The foundation has a focus on four main program areas: the Gap Program, the Climate Protection Program, the Marine Conservation Initiative, and the Black Maternal Health Initiative.
