Position: Middle School English Teacher (MYP)

Summary of the Position

Silicon Valley International School (INTL) seeks a Middle School (Grades 6 - 10) MYP English Language & Literature teacher for the  school year. Teachers develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives. They facilitate learning by building relationships with students and organizing learning resources and the classroom environment. They develop and foster the skills and social abilities to enable optimum development, according to age, ability, and aptitude.

Middle Years Programme (MYP) teachers challenge and inspire students to deepen their knowledge and understanding.

The Middle School English Teacher must demonstrate commitment to INTL’s mission and the population served, with experience teaching at the Middle School level. They should be responsible, self-motivated, friendly, collaborative, and adaptable to a working environment with different cultures.

The position involves teaching through inquiry within the MYP framework, while ensuring foundational skill acquisition and extensive collaboration. Time for collaboration with other teachers is built into the schedule. INTL seeks teachers who combine academic rigor with student engagement and have experience with inquiry-based teaching and learning.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years teaching experience required; master's degree and minimum 5 years teaching experience preferred
    • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to meet requirements for a sponsored J-1 teacher exchange visa
    • Proficiency in English to teach, communicate with parents and colleagues, understand the curriculum, and write report cards
    • Experience with best practices in Spanish language acquisition for middle school
    Compensation and Benefits

    Our compensation is based on education and years of experience. The salary range for this full-time teaching position for the  school year is $83,403 (BA Step
    3) to $126,672 (PhD Step 23). The compensation and benefits below apply to full-time employees.
