Overview
The Property Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of multiple properties within a small, tight-knit team. This position involves overseeing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the management of commercial real estate assets. $70,000 - $90,000 / Year DOE
Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable for multiple properties
- Oversee rent billing, rental income tracking, and collections for approximately 25 tenants across 15 properties
- Process, review, and pay all invoices related to property maintenance and operations
- Prepare and distribute quarterly investor distributions
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including journal entries and month-end close activities
- Prepare and maintain financial records and reports for tax filings, audits, and lender requirements
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Support financial reporting and documentation requests from ownership, lenders, and external partners
- Work with the Property Manager and Principal to develop corporate and property budgets
- Assist with general office and administrative duties as needed to support daily operations
- Eventually take over payroll responsibilities
- Must have 3+ years of property accounting experience, including oversight of at least 25 tenants and 15 properties
- Experience with rent billing, income tracking, and collections
- Strong background in reconciling the general ledger and month-end close activities
- Experience in preparing reports for tax filings and audits
- Experience with processing payroll
- Willingness to wear many hats and fulfill various roles in a small office
- Degree in accounting or finance preferred
- Experience with Yardi Breeze preferred
