Pool Manager (Seasonal, Part-Time)

Note:

This is an at-will, seasonal, part-time position without benefits. Positions may end at any time, and there is no guarantee of hours. Work hours for part-time positions are scheduled based on operational need and typically do not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year from July 1 through June 30, unless further authorized. Incumbents may be required to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, holidays, weekends, and split-shifts.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Services Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents by delivering a wide range of recreational programs, services, special events, and maintenance efforts that foster community engagement, environmental stewardship, and lifelong learning. The department is organized into four key divisions. Community Services Administration oversees strategic planning, budgeting, and coordination across all service areas. Recreation Programs and Citywide Special Events offer inclusive activities and events that promote wellness, cultural enrichment, and social connection.

The City Parks, Landscape, Facility Maintenance and Ranger Patrols division ensures that Menifee's parks and public spaces are safe, clean, and welcoming through regular maintenance and patrol services. Lastly, the Solid Waste and Recycling Programs division supports sustainability through educational outreach, waste reduction initiatives, and recycling services. Together, these divisions reflect the department's commitment to building a vibrant, connected, and environmentally conscious community.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Pool Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the City's aquatics facility and ensuring a safe, well-run, and engaging environment for all patrons. This role directs and supports lifeguards, swim instructors, and seasonal staff; plans and implements aquatics programs; enforces safety rules and emergency procedures; and provides high-quality customer service to the community. The Pool Manager also assists with program development, staff training, facility maintenance, and recordkeeping.

This is a seasonal, part-time, at-will position that requires flexibility, including potential evening, weekend, holiday, and split-shift assignments.

The Pool Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

* Directs staff in planning, organizing and implementing aquatics activities such as swim and water safety classes, recreation and lap swims, and daily facility operations.

* Participates in curriculum development and planning, and any pre-registration program to assess participants' ability levels.

* Plans, directs, assigns and reviews the work of staff performing lifeguard and swim/safety instruction and aquatics facility operations; selects, trains and evaluates performance of staff.

* Researches, prepares and disseminates necessary reports such as attendance, incident and program reports; assists in preparation and processing of program records and waitlists.

* Oversees and instructs Water Safety and Certification Classes; coordinates room reservations, staffing requirements and all necessary information & materials needed to conduct classes.

* Conveys and communicates program objectives and facility services to the public, acts as customer service liaison to user groups, school district personnel and City staff, and develops and maintains effective and cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
