The Opportunity
Davids Health Sciences seeks a Controller to establish institutional-grade financial operations during a critical rapid scaling phase. This hands-on financial leader will transform our accounting systems from entrepreneurial to audit-ready while maintaining the agility needed for rapid growth.
This role requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in high-growth CPG manufacturing environments and brings deep expertise in production accounting, inventory accounting, cost management, financial controls, cash management, and forecasting. With responsibility for our financial operations, the Controller will manage complex production costing, raw material and finished goods inventory, overhead allocation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
Working cross-functionally with department heads across Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain, the Controller will manage all company expenses, deliver comprehensive monthly financial reporting with actuals-to-forecast variance analysis, maintain rigorous cash governance, and provide the strategic financial guidance needed to scale efficiently.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer Eric Buss, this role is critical to our continued rapid growth while maintaining financial discipline and operational excellence.

Responsibilities- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close process (target: 5-7 business days)
- Deliver GAAP-compliant financial statements with variance analysis vs. budget and prior periods
- Prepare comprehensive management reporting packages with actuals-to-forecast analysis for leadership, board, and potential investors
- Lead preparation for audited financials and establish ongoing audit-ready processes
- Build and own annual budget and rolling forecast processes aligned with company growth targets
- Deliver monthly actuals-to-forecast variance reporting with clear explanations of drivers
- Update forecasts based on business performance, channel dynamics, and strategic initiatives
- Partner with department heads to develop accurate departmental budgets and forecasts
- Provide scenario planning and financial modeling to support strategic decision-making
- Maintain 13-week cash flow forecast at all times with weekly updates
- Establish and enforce strong cash governance policies and procedures
- Manage banking relationships and optimize cash positioning
- Monitor daily cash position and provide early warning of potential liquidity issues
- Oversee accounts receivable collections and accounts payable timing to optimize working capital
- Coordinate with leadership on capital allocation decisions and cash requirements for growth initiatives
- Maintain standard costs including landed costs: raw materials, packaging, co-packer fees, freight-in, duties, tariffs with monthly/quarterly true-up to actuals
- Partner with supply chain to implement ERP modules and bridge reporting gaps when identified Establish obsolescence reserves for expired product, slow-moving SKUs, and packaging redesigns
- Track and explain production variances, freight volatility, and tariff changes
- Partner with Planning to reconcile physical inventory counts at all inventory locations
- Deliver defensible gross margin analysis by SKU and channel (Amazon, DTC, Wholesale, International)
- Provide monthly bridge analysis explaining margin movement and volume/price/cost/mix impacts
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to validate production costing accuracy and identify margin compression drivers
- Ensure proper revenue recognition across all channels with correct timing (FOB shipping point vs. destination)
