- Support electrical Transmission, Sub‑Transmission, and Distribution systems by developing and designing plans, identifying resources, and providing cost estimates and options for construction.
- Coordinate tasks with internal staff to ensure projects are completed correctly and on time, meeting industry design standards and safety regulations.
- Oversee environmental permitting and planning for government, internal, and privately owned infrastructure projects.
- Provide direction and support, assessing and managing workload and staff performance, and delivering training as needed.
- Identify system and field risks and evaluate risk‑reduction benefits of proposed mitigation projects.
- Provide design engineering, cost estimates, and project management for overhead and underground transmission, sub‑transmission, and distribution systems, managing these elements from inception to closing.
- Lead reviews of planning and system performance studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria.
- Lead environmental planning and permitting work with a multi‑disciplinary team, serving as the single point of contact for Operations through the construction phase.
- Create and maintain system circuit mapping for overhead and underground facilities.
- Perform field inspections to gather data and verify that development projects comply with approved plans; manage digital and geographic records of assets.
- Ensure protection of company assets and proper management of high‑sensitivity data.
- Five or more years of experience performing electrical utility distribution service planning.
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Utility Design (AUD), SPIDA, or other pole‑loading programs.
- Experience determining scope, service methods, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.
- Experience preparing distribution work orders or construction plans on projects.
- Experience managing multiple projects under tight constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Experience using interpersonal skills to handle customer‑relations issues effectively.
- Physical ability to drive, traverse uneven surfaces, lift up to 40 lbs., sit/stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Hybrid work mode: on‑site at an SCE facility and remote days; must reside in California unless noted.
- Main location:
Menifee Service Center; may work temporarily at alternate locations. - Requires up to 40 % travel in the service territory.
- Options for a 9/80 alternative schedule or 40‑hr/week.
- Relocation not applicable.
- Testing is required; candidates may be invited to test via email.

- As of July 1 2025, the position falls within Representation of ESC Local 20; terms may change with bargaining outcomes.
