In this role, the Deli Department Assistant Manager will assist the Deli Department Manager with all functions of operating a successful department. The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring employees are providing remarkable guest service at the deli counter, and is a self‑starter who assists with slicing, weighing, packaging, and labeling deli items for guests as needed. Additional duties include accurate recording, customer service, employee relations, expense control, inventory, shrink, public relations, stocking, and controlling freshness by rotating or removing out‑of‑date merchandise.

When in charge of the department, the Assistant Manager directs staff workload, provides counseling, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and supervises.
