Responsibilities
- Coordinate the documentation required by U.S. Customs and government agencies for entry of goods into the U.S. on behalf of importers.
- Provide impeccable customer service.
- Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release from databases, SOPs, tariff books, or the internet.
- Data‑entry and processing of various import‑related documentation for submission to U.S. Customs; may handle all participating government agencies (PGAs).
- Maintain and keep current all shipment documentation in compliance with record‑keeping requirements.
- Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations.
- Work closely with internal staff, departments, other Fed Ex operations, and customers to deliver a high level of service.
- Process agency brokerage shipments.
- Handle remote filings.
- Ensure all government and organizational policies are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Handle a high volume of work and time‑sensitive tasks.
- Use multiple systems and reference materials.
- Interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, and internal staff at all management levels.
HS Diploma or GED required. No industry experience required. Minimum of six months of general work experience preferred. Data entry/keyboard experience required. Working knowledge of MS Office and email applications such as Outlook, using multiple screens and windows. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred QualificationsHybrid role with a strong onsite requirement. Employees must be comfortable reporting onsite regularly, especially during training. Transition to hybrid eligibility may occur after training and role requirements are successfully met. Monday‑Friday 9:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m.
Pay & BenefitsTypical starting rate: $18.40. Pay transparency information is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations.
